Real life Mari does archery, so it makes sense that she'd have a bow and arrow. Then I got the idea for her to shoot arrow through time and that decided her aspect. The little doggie ears are mostly there just to jazz up the outfits since I don't know what most of them look like aside from "something with a hood." Mari's big thing is that she's super cute, so her outfit having little animal ears makes sense. I was going to give her cat ears, but then she looked too much like Dog Tier Jade/Karkat/Sufferer.

The Land of Rice and Arrows does have the Beat Mesa equivalent in this game too, which is a giant target.
